Our Outpatient
Treatment and Recovery Programs are gender-specific. Patients may be
referred after inpatient treatment to ensure recovery and to help avoid
relapse. Patients may also be referred from an attorney or another
source after a DUI or OWI that will require a court appearance and
possiblity of a jail sentence.

Patients may be referred for treatment
as a pre-requisite to getting their driver's license back. Some
patients may be referred from their doctor because their alcohol or
substance use is causing health problems. Some patients may choose to
begin an outpatient program because they or their family may be worried
about their alcohol or substance use.
What you will find in our
Outpatient Treatment Program are many people who are like you, who have
similar circumstances and experiences. Our Recovery and Relapse
Prevention Therapy groups become a band of friends who listen to each
other, share with each other, and confront and encourage one another.
We recommend involvement in community sobriety programs such as
Alcoholics Anonymous, Women for Sobriety, or others. Some patients from
our groups will attend these community sessions together and support
one another.
The rules we enforce in our groups are: 1) What is said in group stays
in group--we ensure confidentiality; 2) Everyone must participate to
some degree; and 3) No one is judged for what they say. We work at
understanding another's point of view, recognizing that our critical
nature is part of our old, addicted thinking.
Typically,
treatment consists of individual and group therapy, including
education in the dangers associated with using alcohol and other drugs,
education in the risks of casual use becoming addiction, and education
in family relationships and communication skills. Other sessions may
focus on the motivation for change and stages of recovery, relapse
prevention, and possibly anger and emotional management. In addition to
individual sessions, patients are expected to attend group sessions
offered every week. In the group sessions, new members are asked to
share their "story" and their addiction history, and later their
recovery and relapse prevention plan.
